"The Minister for Primary Industries and Water to move—That the House:
—(1) Notes that our primary industries are a key pillar of the Tasmanian economy with the latest Tasmania’s Agri-Food Scorecard 2016-2017 showing the gross value of the State’s Agri-Food production to be worth $2.4 billion.
(2) Further notes that agriculture accounts for almost $1.5 billion of this figure with thevalue of seafood production approaching $0.95 billion.
(3) Acknowledges that the Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to taking agriculture to the next level in Tasmania and have a target to grow the value of our agriculture sector to $10 billion a year by 2050, as well as grow the value of our world-class wild catch seafood and aquaculture sector.
(4) Further notes that under this policy, the Government has committed $800,000 to Rural Business Tasmania (RBT) over four years, including $595,000 in new funding over the forward estimates.
(5) Further notes that this funding will allow RBT to provide Rural Financial Counselling Services and Farm Business Mentoring to support Tasmanian farmers11NOTICES OF MOTIONwith business skills, financial literacy, planning and debt mediation, furtherstrengthening our agricultural sector.
(6) Thanks the staff at Rural Business Tasmania, including Chair Geoff Fader and CEO Elizabeth Skirving, for the important role they play in supporting and advancing our farmers and rural communities. (20 November 2018)"
