Country Energy's meter readers are responsible for the accurate reading of 1.5 million meters; approximately 6 million meter readings per year.
22 Jun 2007 Country Energy wins Australian Business Excellence Award Country Energy's National Metering and Data business unit has won one of the nation's most coveted business awards – an Australian Business Excellence award, Quality Systems category. Country Energy's managing director, Craig Murray said, "This is the first time we have entered this award and so understandably we're very pleased to have been successful."
"The award acknowledges high performing organisations and I'm pleased to see that our National Metering and Data unit stands as a leading example of organisational best practice across Australian businesses."
Country Energy's National Metering and Data business unit provides metering installation and data management services for both Country Energy and large energy customers nationally.
That service includes dialling more than 13,000 mobile phones every night of the year to extract meter reading data at half hourly intervals.
"This service provides vital information to assist us in developing adequate strategies to meet the future energy requirements of our customers" Craig said. "The data collected is also used for the billing of energy customers."
"Without a system in place to ensure a strong focus on quality, leadership and customer service, the management of such an enormous task as extracting metered data from across Australia would be impossible.
"Country Energy is showing that it makes good business sense to look within, identify how improvements can be made, and work to meet customers' expectations by adding value through a system of quality," Craig said.
The Australian Business Excellence Awards were open to all Australasian-based companies, companies incorporated in Australia, not-for-profit and community organisations, Commonwealth and State Government departments and agencies and Local Government bodies.
The award was presented last night, 21 June 2007, at a ceremony held in Sydney.
