Note Neil had previously said the company could get a retort/plant up and happening for $50m. Then with the scoping study capex was estimated at $120-200m and I think much of that variability had to do with the location of the solar/gas plant.
I gather, knowing what they do about lithium, they looked at the lithium market and regional geology and said why don't we spend that extra $70-150m in this way instead, we can get an extra $5 per share in NPV. Seems a safe guess
