I too have spoken to a senior person associated with the Alpha project - the original and main reason I brought in to GRV. The issue remains one of achieving a net zero footprint for the project. The Geothermal Lithium is one approach to achieve this but has the potential to offer much more.
GRV is not solely relying on Geothermal Lithium to achieve a net zero footprint for Alpha. There are alternative processes being trialed in parallel with the Geothermal Lithium to produce the Alpha products. These trials, if successful, will emit far less carbon emissions, and hence mean the original Solar/Hybrid power proposal will provide the carbon offsets needed for the Alpha project to proceed without being reliant on Geothermal Lithium to provide those carbon offsets.
In my view, GRV are proceeding in a structured engineering approach to solve a problem.
