Sulphur from retorts in Gladstone were a problem - but mainly because of their proximity to residential areas. alpha doesn't really have that residential proximity problem. but also furthermore, I've heard that bitumen actually is considered to be of better quality when it includes a percentage of Sulphur so I believe the plan is to include the Sulphur into the bitumen mix, rather than shoot it up into the sky.

I recall NB in the presentation saying that the retort emissions will be cleaned up using the activated carbon? Could be wrong...
