    Hi mate, sorry busy day didn’t get around to responding.

    Yeah I was actually working in Gladstone at the time when they were planning to fire that shale oil place back up in 2011/12 there were big protests going on for a couple of days.

    I’m no specialist on the process myself, but that place was shale oil, not sure what temperatures need to be reached in comparison to torbanite.

    Here’s an Environmental review of the QER project though as a point of interest.

    I think the geography of the project being so close to Gladstone had a part to play, which is funny really when you see the costic ponds around the alumina refinery and the pollution coming from the coal wharf,2 smelters, coal fired power station, orica, and now 3 LNG export facilities.

    I heard a rumour at the time that QER were using old tires as a fuel source for the retort, not sure if there was any truth to it.

    Don’t think it should have much relevance to this project anyway.
