Are you implying dodgy practices, gold theft?
I have worked on shows where the recovered gold was less than the geo's anticipated, in fact it caused one mine to close. GSR would/should have been well aware of the mill recoveries from lab results during the milling, so I can't see any sculduggery.
I can't find the expected return from trial before mining, perhaps it wasn't done.
