"Nixon dumped the gold standard on the basis of the strength of the dollar and inflated out of war debts"

There's a lot more to the story than that, they defaulted on their obligations of swapping gold for US dollars, when all the burgeoning economies around the World (including Germany) wanted to swap their dollars for US gold (which they had mostly confiscated, off of their citizens, when they made it illegal to hold it)..

But let's not get off track

There's never been a better time, to be in a gold explorer/producer.
