    It's not a big deal to pay an extra 10% and to help local retailers.

    But here is my concern with an example.

    Say you just watch the same mass market movies by the big studios that everyone else does. You buy from a major monopoly like Amazon and you pay an extra 10% ($2) for a $20 bluray movie.

    But what if you want to buy from a small independent studio overseas that sell their movies direct themselves (that doesn't have the resources to manage tax for X amounts of different countries, and no retailer in AU resells their product.).
    Now you are paying 100% extra in tax and having your item held up at the post office too.
