Woolies floated Dick Smith after a few profitable years and it was bought out by Private Equity, debt loaded and
re-floated. By then the techno geeks had disappeared (build your own stuff) and just too many other retailers had
taken up computers . phones & hi-tech gear. The company could not afford the debt repayments with small margins and went under.
