Do yourself a favour. Don't blindly accept information from forum posters (including me) or Google. Speak to someone who has first-hand knowledge of how these things work. Class action lawyers are a good start. Frequently parroted statements like "you'll get nothing"; "the only winners are lawyers and funders" really have no basis in fact. The reputable legal teams and funders who stand behind most securities class actions typically return around 60% of any recoveries to claimants and in some cases more. That's a pretty reasonable return considering that the shareholder takes zero risk and pays nothing in the litigation - with costs typically running into many millions of dollars. Of course there are instances where the return to shareholders is substantially less than 60% of recoveries, but they are the exception not the rule.
