LA,
There is always a danger that the ideas these blokes espouse may produce zealots and I was looking paticularly for that last night. I was really impressed with these fellas. I've read a bit of Perle's stuff and he is a lot more impressive in the flesh (TV).
This group has an integrated philosophy that has the stated goal of making the world a better place for all.
However it doesn't have the socio/economic baggage of socialism,
I get the impression that had these ideas been
influential in the past we may have seen better
outcomes in Central and South America and certainly Iraq would not have the Saddam problem it has today.ie.there is a moral dimension to their doctrine.
Of course rhetoric must be backed up with action but there is no other plan, yet out there, for dealing with those issues that threaten to overwhelm all of us.
Here as in the globalisation and the free market debates the left is intellectually out of the game. The intellectual arguments are at present overwhelmingly with the new conservatives and they are the true radicals in that sense.
It gives you a better perspective on Bush, Blair and Howard and the ideas that drive them in the fight against terrorism.
regards, lrj
