re: upgrades = environmental improvements Yeah SB2000 I talked to Dick Allen from Toxfree today and there are two main reasons for the upgrades profitabilty and environmental and both equally important.
He couldn't elaborate on what type of technology will be used because its still with the engineers in the designing phase but did say a 2nd after burner was getting implemented.
From the brokers reports the port hedland facility once upgrades are finished will increase production by 30%.The Kwinana facility isn't making as much money as Port Hedland but the potential is far greater,at the moment Kwin is processing 1/2 ton an hour but with the upgrades hopes to increase that up to 2 1/2 tonnes an hour depending on what material and at the same time make it cheaper to process the waste per ton in regards to the current operations which means more customers.
I worked up at Port hedland for 18mths in the last two years and lived at the camp thats across the road and about 100-150mts from the Toxfree site, can honestly say I didn't have a problem with it,there was never any smell or smoke/fumes hanging around from it,this is getting beaten up.
When I talked to Dick he come across in a professional, friendly and intelligent manner with a geniune concern for the environment,Toxfree doesn't come across as a cowboy outfit!
One problem with the pilbara as with the rest of the country is the bottleneck at the port when I was up there we where putting in a new wharf and shiploader as well as upgrading the plant. There are more upgrade plans for port hedland which means a bigger local industry and obviously more waste so Toxfree will always have work and who knows maybe more upgrades in the longer future!
These upgrades may take a lot longer than planned though because of the lack of resources in the engineering industry at the moment, labour ect,but once these upgrades are finished and if succesfull this little one is going to do very well!
