Hirst has to pretend to be upbeat. If Bendigo loses the court case investors will ask for his head. He reduced the bank's provisions knowing that this case was about to go before the courts. I see this as a rather foolish move. It will take a long time to sorth this out and he may as well enjoy his job a little longer.
