I completely agree with you about not just tax but the mentality in Aus. This country incentivizes brain drain. A huge segment of our smartest young aussies are bailing to a variety of overseas locations. Not just for tax, but culture too. Australia's anti-business culture is tremendously entrenched. People here are proud of the fact we're better than countries like Mali when it comes to investment, because they seize mines and we don't. Not a high bar.

Mining is about the only thing this country does well and if you look at more sophisticated capital markets like Japan, the US and Europe you'll notice shit happens here that would never fly over there.

The saddest thing is the knee-jerk reaction to anyone pointing out the serious failures of the country with accusations of them being "unaustralian". It's ironic because people who want to do better actually love the country more and know it has the potential to be so much better. Great place to visit, horrible to do business. And slipping every day.
