JRL is in the same area as Lithium America's Thacker pass. Its lithium in clay being improved to Carbonate. Currently no-one has done this on a commercial scale and the capex proposed by Lithium America's for the LCE that will be delivered is huge (>$50k/LCE). Both JRL and Lithium America's have large areas of low lithium concentration clay's that will need huge beneficiation.

I'm not sure if there is a useful intermediate product but the Thacker Pass proposal is basically the equivalent of a startup project going from Mining all the way to Hydroxide and quite possibly with a higher capital intensity than exists if doing the same thing via hardrock to Hyroxide.
