    In the young (20-40) entrepreneur crowd there is a huge trend of people moving their online businesses to offshore structures then living in Thailand, Bali, Dubai and even several European countries. Even the US is stealing smart Aussies. Huge brain drain.

    It's not even related to cost of living (though that does not help) but rather how much better these places are for a young person who is really ambitious. They are obviously attracted to favorable tax rates, but also the ease of doing business without insane red tape and also living near other expats who are there for the same reason they are. Powerful networking effect when you can hang out with other motivated people.

    The real question is how stupid Australia is to not just stem the brain drain, but make zero effort to attract young people here. Plenty of positives I can think of lifestyle wise that on paper, should incentivize the best and brightest to get excited about moving to Australia. Instead, they are discouraged.

    I firmly believe things should be made as easy as possible for that class of individual, because they lift up entire nations. It's nice to see another person on here who sees through the facade, it's quite rare within Australia.
