Optimist, the Chinese do business differently. They say the Chinese don't like suprises, and it sometimes it involves a bit of kowtowing, for what it's worth.
But I see what you mean about BHP and Xstrata, but either they, BHP et al, didn't approach JRV or JRV didn't approach them, and maybe JRV needed at least some kind of committment.
Im seeing quite a few extraordinary Australian known resources being ignored by Australian investors. Maybe I am completely off the ball, but sometimes it looks like the 'Sarich Engine' syndrome - You have to go overseas before anyone takes you seriously.
Now JRV have a possible Chinese backer and see all the attention that got for them. Now maybe BHP & Xstrata (OS company I know) is interested too .... which will make JRV even more interesting to the Chinese etc .... might turn out to be a really good move for JRV ....
About the Young project: are these figures correct?! "the Young project contains over 1.6
million tonnes of nickel metal and 168 thousand tonnes of cobalt metal."
