I'm trying to find the USD $6.4B , in BHP's 2015 Cons. Financial Statement, to make a comparative?
I have USD $4.390B before discontinued ops??
I'm guessing $8.670B (2015 full year) EBIT less, half the value of intangibles written down $4,292/2 = $6.524.
Halved for the half year ► $3.262 less the $575 they have already announced hence = ► $2.687Bn EBIT
There could be tax shielding on write downs, so I'll stick with an EBIT guess?
It could be worse...
