re: bhp warrants Some warrants issuers allow exercise of warrants before the expiry, others are on the expiry date only. Either way you have give them notice.
The reason you can't exercise the warrants is because for example if the share price rose to 29.50 today and you excercise at 29.00, you made 50c profit at no risk and after the fact.
It likes betting on the winning horse after the race.
