I don't know CI. It was a grumble bum who rang, so I wasn't really tuned in. It just struck me as odd and thus why the ask here, hoping he's misinterpretted situtaion. He said it was new regs, but I couldn't find anything readily other than:
- be 11 or older (if you’re under 18, you can apply for a minor’s licence)
- have a genuine reason for needing a weapons licence
- reside only in Queensland
- be a fit and proper person
- have completed an approved safety course in weapons safety
- have a safe and secure place to store a weapon.
A fit and proper person
You will not be considered a fit and proper person under the Weapons Act 1990 if you been convicted of any of the following and discharged from custody on sentence in the last 5 years—offences relating to:
- misusing drugs
- using or threatening to use violence
- using, carrying, discharging or possessing a weapon.
