Agree with what your sentiments entirely. My preference is actually to average into an investment while the share price is falling (and then hopfully rising again). Obviously picking the exact bottom is almost impossible, but I've found for my long term investments (as long as I've done the right research) my trading strategy is to average in.

I was buying in 70's and will continue to buy in 60's/50's over the next couple of weeks. It's only going to take one deal in the sector to get the share price moving.
