Timber company Gunns has reached a settlement over its legal action against a group of forest protesters.

Two years ago in the Supreme Court Gunns sought damages from 13 activists over a protest at its Triabunna woodchip mill in 2008.

Gunns was suing the group known as the 'Triabunna 13' for close to $30,000 after the protesters chained themselves to machinery stopping work for about seven hours.

Group representative, Ali Alishah, is pleased a confidential agreement with Gunns has been reached.

"And it ushers in a new paradigm where the community's concerns are what define political corporate and industrial policy," he said.

He says efforts will continue to protect Tasmania's native forests.

"We have been extremely undeterred and we will continue to struggle for achieving the protection of these threatened high conservation value forests."

    Gunns has declined to comment.
