Gunns only have themselves to blame for the position they find themselves in today.
"In 2010, Gunns was presented with a way out by Swedish firm Sodra, which expressed interest in backing the project if Gunns adopted total chlorine-free technology and Forest Stewardship Council accreditation. Industry sources tell Inquirer that it was Gunns - not Sodra - that walked away from those talks. Malcolm Turnbull, when federal environment minister, also tried to persuade Gunns to adopt better effluent treatment"
