The reality is that punishment and deterants for gun crimes is so piss weak! Add to this the breakdown of family values and drugs, things will only get worse! With all the guns in the USA it's only a small percentage of shootings at schools but it's the most serious since it involves the children.
My solution is
1)death penalty for perpetrators and their enablers,
2)serious repercussions for the FBI who were informed about this fruit loop but did nothing to get him off the street.
3) FULL background checks on people if they have mental illness or are crims and want guns.
4) servere penalties for those who have guns but fall in the catagory of 3
5) Serious and Full investigation of any tipoff of information someone is planning an attack.
6) ban Fully Automatic weapons from the general public and under 25yo!
7) shoot to kill orders for any attending officers facing the shooter.

Did you read the story of the police tackling and fortunately not shooting a victim fleeing the school shooter ? He happened to be of a similar appearance and wearing clothing like the shooter's.

How would the police have recognised any "good guy with a gun" on the scene?
