institutional dealer discounts market suggestion that CNOOC US$850 million bond
raising could be prelude for bid through purchase of Shell's 33% stake. Adds
more likely confidence that next offshore Mauritania wildcat well, Merou One,
will be a gusher similar to Tiof and Chinguetti discoveries. Results due in next
week or so. Macquarie, Fortis, CSFB big WPL buyers in late trade. (IGP)
