So the change in reported total short positions between the 20th and the 21st trading end was -3,144,332. The trade volume was 4,990,981. The gross shorts reported for the 21st was 1,319,786.
The gross is nowhere near the total change. Goes to show how inaccurate these numbers are.

This is one aspect the ASX could do a lot better at policing. We should be able to accurately know how many shares are being loaned and then sold and bought under loan on the same day if not in real time. It's not like the technology doesn't exist.
