    Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY)
Like a typical small-cap stock still to prove its execution capabilities of running a profitable business, lithium miner GXY had its ups and downs this year. Despite all that, shares are up a staggering 343% for the year. GXY stock has been high-flyer over the past month, inching towards its 52-week and erasing the correction seen since June.
On Dec. 8, the company updated the market that it kicked-off 24 hour production at its Mount Cattlin plant. Galaxy acquired General Mining, the owner of Mt Cattlin, which was being upgraded to double its production capacity and increase operational efficiency. GXY already has an offtake agreement with Japanese leading trader Mitsubishi and several Chinese buyers lined up to buy the Spodumene concentrate—source of Lithium—produced at the plant.
While China’s ramped up efforts to boost electric cars and renewable energy are considered the primary drivers behind GXY’s positive outlook, the implementation of the successful Paris Agreement on climate-change can bring it new buyers from all over the globe.

Galaxy’s new leadership, with mining industry’s seasoned campaigner Anthony Tse at the helm since 2013, has taken the company out of a financially distressed situation by going to the extent of pledging personal assets for the working capital needs until production started.
Given its committed management and high-quality assets such as the Sal de Vida lithium deposit in Argentina, the company can become one of the key players in a commodity industry which is in no way expected to face any downturns in the foreseeable future.
