@denised ,there has also been some muttering recently about super capacitors threatening Li battery technology for EV applications. basically these capacitors can't provide the range at this point in time and are not light weight and relatively low cost as that of lithium, I posted this some time ago:

I undersatnd Tesla already uses them in the overall electronics for power burst situations (turbo). There are also nanotube enhanced ultracapacitors being developed somewhere out there but I recall a comment that they were about 10 years away from commercialization?
