Its more efficient to bring on a partner that knows what they are doing with Lithium brine chemical production. It's a very difficult process to get right as has been witnessed for many years. There's a genuine shortage of available expertise. I believe all the brine majors struggle with talent acquisition - its a very specific skill set in high demand. The other important factor is the extreme levels of proprietary technology held very closely by the majors. The brine conversion processes are very secretive.
