while the attention goes to the big players like BHP and Rio Tinto, Matthew Baker from Baker Young stockbrokers says a number of smaller companies have been involved in some important projects around the Territory. He says Compass Resources are mining a valuable cobalt resource that is rarely given much attention. "Cobalt is a very specific little material, they use it in jet engines, it has an ability if you mix it with steel to create super-magnets ...they'll be one of the largest producers in Australia for it and also a significant producer worldwide."
