Lumber prices have skyrocketed over here, along with everything else. Finally paying off to be a long term holder of BCC and IP.

I live in an air conditioned brick house in the northeastern US, we have very hot and humid summers and very cold winters, but nothing close to the heat and humidity in Florida. Without air conditioning, the southern US could not have developed into what it is today. I lived in Georgia for four years and the summers are brutal. Block is actually pretty popular for construction down there, one of the big advantages is that it is resistant to wood boring insects, especially termites which are a huge problem in the southern states.

Found this article about home construction in Florida. Makes me wonder if FBR couldn't incorporate some type of reinforcement or ballistic block and market it as hurricane protection.
