    I did read the article you referenced. An extract follows:

    "Initially, very little water is produced but levels rapidly build upover the first two or three years of an oilfield’s life and, for a typicalmid-sized oilfield with water drive (see below), water cuts will reach
    around 50% in 10 years (that is, for every barrel of oil produced abarrel of water is also produced). As oil fields with water driveapproach the end of their lives water cuts may reach over 95% until fields become uneconomic to produce."

    The first sentence is the main issue.

    One would not expect to find much water in the first oil flows. One explanation for this early stage water is sand mobilisation or coning allowing water from the oil water contact to penetrate into the oil fraction.

    Water is heavier than oil but it is also much less viscous
    and will flow once the sand coning has developed.

    A technical explanation from the company may resolve this but the lack of detail seems to be causing some flutters in the market.
