h3n2v flu strains emerging in usa

Note that Dr Niman on the Recombinomics website is reporting cases of H3N2variant starins of influenza being isolated from patients with influenza after attending at least 2

Agricultural Fairs and having contact with pigs in the US.
Strains isolated from Pigs at these fairs are considered identical to the human isolates indicating cross species transfer of infection.

Similar strains were a problem in the US last flu season, but this year the cases are beginning earlier (June rather than August).

Dr Niman considers it likely that this strain will cause asignificant level of flu cases in the US this flu season.

The influenza antivirals Relenza & Lani dveloped by the Australian Company Biota (BOTA on the NASDAQ)are an important first line of defense in the treatment of influenza.
