I think that was the original plan, just drill more holes,
however the economics of hotrock is based on temperature.
I believe that the cost of producing power with a rock temperature of 250deg C is considerably less than with a rock temperature of say 200 deg C. I have heard numbers like about half.
Rock temperature is the single most important contributer to the economics of power generation than anything else. Far more important than say distance from a grid. This is what is so valuable to GDY.
The granite at under the Cooper Basin is the hottest in the world. And therefore hotter than what any competitor has.
If a rig with the capability to drill 8.5inch holes is used it should be possible to drill deeper than the hab-1 and 2 planned depths and get even higher temperatures. I'm sure that is what they'll attempt to do.
The recent ann. mentioned early 2007 for drilling if I recall.
