Woodside's Don Voelte appears to be a good one trick pony but clearly he is not at his best when he is required to think outside the box.

For instance, Voelte has described coal seam gas as "girlie gas" which will not be attractive to buyers of gas. The jury is still out on that call but to date the market, and Conoco and Shell and BG, strongly disagree with him.

In contrast I have heard nothing but praise for Origin's Grant King's cognitive powers and his capacity for positioning his company for future possibilities.

I am more impressed that Origin has still got money on the GDY table than that Woodside has taken its money off the table.
