My experience (from the litigation side not the trade side) is there are many builders and other trades who are highly skilled perfectionists who take great pride in their work; there are many who are shonks and survive through a combination of customers' ignorance and phoenixing and so on

The reason HX has so much potential is not that it is better than the best builder out there, but because it potentially give consistent repeatable quality. It will never be better than a master craftsman, but it will be better than the current average. A suit hand made by a master tailor will always be better than a factory made version - but we're still glad we can get decent quality clothes made in factories.

This is why I hold - not that I am certain FBR will necessarily succeed (I have many doubts mostly on the management side) but because I am certain the HX or something similar will become standard sooner or later. The engineering problems can and will be overcome in my opinion. The question is whether it will be FBR or someone else, next year or in ten years.
