Another way to look at it is depreciation over 5 years assuming working 310 days a year is around $1,300 a day. Throw in another $1000 a day for fuel, maintenance and operators for a round $2,300 per 24 hour day. Assume some lost time in moving between jobs and setting up, so let's say 20 hours work, 20,000 bricks.
At the suggested 500 bricks per day that's 40 man-days at $250 per day so equivalent of $10,000. So daily savings of over $7,000. And you won't get a brickie for $250 during any boom times.
So good returns for the operator. Rough numbers, and dead time will depend on house size and distance between jobs. But a good operator will schedule this for maximum efficiency.
They won't have trouble finding customers on these metrics. Hopefully I am in the ballpark.
