What I tried to say here was, if a compatible product was to be developed by highly funded R&D departments of these larger companies then they would have a easier path due to the brand name, trust, existing relationships they already have in the industry. There's is more to establishing a supply contract in addition to the actual product itself. Has the company got a track record of meeting long term supply demands is one of many questions a major contractor woulda consider before entering an agreement for a large scale supply agreement.

Also keep in mind, when the product is out there, re-engineering becomes a little bit easier. I'm not saying it will, but as GS has said the competition will come.
