At 47 your parents should be retired or round abouts, they didn't work all their lives paying taxes?

i dont believe Income tax was ever supposed to be permanent when it was introduced.
Would be better to do away with it and increase the GST accordingly, then the user pays for everything.
In short, If you earn more you spend more you pay more tax, you earn less you spend less you pay less tax. That should also stop the hand outs as income tax would have been reduced or abolished giving all more disposable income.
