The trouble with starting a business back then wouldn’t be the tax. The Guilds were being formed even in those days. You couldn’t be a baker or a miller if you weren’t part of the system, with an opening into them. Today I can set up as a mechanic, or a carpenter, without too much difficulty. If I want to be part of the protected trades, like a doctor or a plumber, or even a teacher, I have to undergo years of training. Too many restrictions already, feudalism isn’t far away, especially with the “smart” people that dolcevita knows pushing their agendae with the Govt.
