It is very frustrating and I am suprised this is accepted by Apollo.
Staff should be incentivized through share appreciation, it is as simple as that. Management has a duty to their underlying investors and to the shareholders. Nobody should benefit before them. With that said, the company is nothing without key individuals, so they do need to be paid. That is a two way street though, if you can't navigate the waters and make/raise money in these dislocated markets you should be gone.
