I just read 'Anti-Fragile' by Taleb and he was not shy about forecasts and forecasters. I also remember years ago when Regency Holdings in the US was going dark @4 while real value was in the teens. However, they still 'bought' a fairness opinion along with all sorts of projections to make it 4 in the end. Jimmy, there is nothing special about forecasting, it is a way to earn a living for some people.
Running a business is like building muscle. You grind day after day after day without seeing any changes. Yet one day, you found yourself in a new shape, but few knew how hard you have worked on that. ONT did their grinding and numbers between those two companies are just night and day. A two percentage change in operating margin is a flickering of pen for a forecaster, yet it takes really hard, hard work over a long period.
