what u described was just a small portion of the residents and families. Its not fair to demonise people suffer from dementia like that. They certainly can have physical behaviour as you said. But I would say maybe 1 in 10 will be aggressive, most ones i met are lovely. Majority of the family are caring. Just because they put their loved ones into nursing home doesn't mean they do not care anymore.
I do agree with you on one thing, working in nursing home is a hard job.
