Contracts, established and fast supply lines, some patents, agile development team, scale-able business model etc. etc. These things have value, and when a company looks at creating their own department, vertically integrating by acquisition, or even just continually outsourcing, it all comes down to cost - benefit. Every company is different and has different needs. Who are you to say that they don't have anything worthy when you haven't done the analysis?
