The combination of the tightness and the competition of the offshore gas was enough in the past to kill interest in the onshore stuff . Also , back then , gas had a pretty low value relatively speaking .

Amazing how things can change over time.

I haven't been following the LTG stuff too much but from what I have seen there seems to be quite a bit of hysteria and misinformation , especially around fraccing. I feel that the deep stuff might be caught up in this and therefore could delay progress longer than expected . I know that the Bass Coast Shire Council ( not too far away ) is dead set against any csg at all . For this reason , I wouldn't be at all suprised if the govt dragged their feet on this .

On the positive side , there aren't any fraccing issues in the Cooper .
