    Having lived in USA for several months that included Halloween, I am basically aware of its origins. However, I am not aware if until at least a few years ago Halloween is observed in its original Celtic origins. Probably, events such as potato famines sort of killed any incentives to celebrate such things or may be the Christian churches disapproved. Actually, I suspect that it was originally not a celerbration but rather a fear of ghosts and ghouls and an attempt to appease them.     Whatever, the origins, historically it has become a big deal in America (and possibly Canada). As such, I regard it as now a quaint American tradition and I disagree with us immitating it. Certainly, I would rather not have my night disturbed by a constantly ringing doorbell followed by the rattling of my door when I don't answer it within 10 milliseconds.
