Japan and other countries may well have been sourcing rare earths elsewhere, but the point is can they find it? can they find enough of it?
"China mines 93 percent of the worlds rare earth minerals, and more than 99 percent of the worlds supply of some of the most prized rare earths, which sell for several hundred dollars a pound."
Maybe they were really able to buy all the remainer 7% not produced by china including that 1% of the ultra rare ... The point is its not enough ...
