If hamas does drop the destruction of Israel from their charter, I guess that could be classed as a broken election promise.
From what I have heard, fatah also dropped the destruction of Israel promise, so it doesnt seem to be a dramatic step, and in anycase, they can still keep that vow as a badly kept secret.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the Israelis handle the transition from Sharon over the next few months.
