Isn't it a little naive, or duplicitous, to think that a killed leader will not be quickly replaced; particularly when land claims and civilian atrocities stir up further, deeper resentment within the general population.
PS: Read the above as you will - both sides see an existential threat to their god-given rights. The rest of the world looks on and sighs ...
